Dental Crowns & Bridges in Corpus Christi, TX

Crowns and bridges are dental restorations that protect damaged teeth or replace missing teeth and allow you to speak and chew normally. A dental crown fits over the entire tooth to restore its shape and size and provide support. Bridges are used to fill an empty space between teeth and are held in place using crowns or dental implants. We use porcelain to make our crowns and bridges because it is very strong and can be matched to the color of your natural teeth.

Dr. Williamson and our professional team want you to have a beautiful, healthy smile and make sure that you always receive the dental treatment you need in a caring and comfortable environment in Corpus Christi. We are happy to offer state-of-the-art technologies that make your treatment easy and stress-free.

When are Dental Crowns and Bridges Used?

A dental crown is placed on a tooth damaged by decay or to protect a tooth after root canal treatment. Other reasons a dental crown may be needed are:

  • Severely decayed teeth
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • Broken fillings
  • Large, unattractive fillings

A dental bridge is used to fill the space created by a missing tooth. The bridge is usually a single unit that spans three teeth and can be extended if you are missing additional teeth. It is attached to your natural teeth on either side and has a dental restoration in the center to fill the gap. A dental bridge improves the appearance of your smile and prevents surrounding teeth from moving into the space left by a missing tooth.

Enhancing Your Smile with Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are essential restorative solutions for repairing damaged teeth and replacing missing ones. If you have a weakened tooth due to decay or trauma, a dental crown provides long-term protection while maintaining natural function. A dental bridge, on the other hand, is an excellent choice for filling gaps left by missing teeth, preventing misalignment and bite problems.

Both dental crowns and bridges are designed to restore your ability to chew and speak comfortably. At our Corpus Christi dental office, we use high-quality porcelain for a natural look and durability. With our advanced digital scanning technology, we ensure a precise fit without the discomfort of traditional impressions.

By choosing dental crowns and bridges, you invest in aesthetic enhancement and long-term oral health. Gaps from missing teeth can cause shifting, leading to jaw discomfort, uneven wear, and further dental issues. Our experienced team is committed to helping you regain a strong, healthy smile with personalized dental care. Schedule a consultation today to learn more about whether dental crowns and bridges are the right solution for you.

Why Crowns and Bridges Are Still One of the Best Choices for Your Smile

When a tooth is damaged, cracked, or missing, it can affect more than the appearance of your smile.  It can change the way you bite, the way you speak, and how comfortable you feel throughout the day. For patients in Corpus Christi who are dealing with these concerns, dental crowns and bridges remain one of the most reliable and time-tested ways to restore a healthy, natural-looking smile  — and for good reason.

Crowns and bridges are designed to provide lasting support and protection.  With proper brushing, flossing, and regular check-ups, porcelain crowns and bridges can last 10 to 15 years or longer. That kind of durability makes them a long-term investment in your oral health, while also improving the comfort and appearance of your smile.

Patients sometimes ask how crowns and bridges compare to implants. Implants can bean excellent option for some patients, but they usually require a longer treatment timeline and involve a surgical procedure. Crowns and bridges can often be completed in just two visits and do not require surgery, making them a practical choice for patients who want dependable results without an extended recovery time.

Whether you have a tooth damaged by decay, a gap left by a missing tooth, or a cracked tooth that is causing discomfort, a crown or bridge may be the right solution. At your consultation, our team will be happy to walk you through your options, answer your questions, and help you choose the treatment that feels right for you.

What is the Process for Placing Dental Crowns and Bridges?

Placing a crown or bridge requires two appointments. During the first appointment, we carefully prepare the tooth using comfortable laser dentistry. Once the tooth has been prepared, our professional team takes digital impressions of your teeth. This is a recent technology, and we are very pleased to offer it to our patients. This digital imaging system completely eliminates the need for taking messy impressions. We use a simple scanning device to take pictures of your teeth, and then we use these images to create an impression that is much more accurate than those created using the traditional method.

The impressions are sent to a special dental lab, and we fit you with a temporary bridge or crown to wear while you wait for your new restoration. You return to our dental office in Corpus Christi about two weeks later when the permanent restoration is finished. We make necessary adjustments to make sure that the restoration is comfortable and you can bite down naturally. The restoration is then cemented permanently into place.

Before you leave our office, we give you specific instructions for caring for your crown or bridge. With proper oral hygiene and regular dental cleanings, your new restoration will last for many years.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Crowns and Bridges in Corpus Christi

Are dental crowns and bridges painful to get?

Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the process is. We use local anesthetic during the preparation appointment so you should not feel any pain during treatment. You may experience some mild sensitivity or soreness for a day or two afterward, but this is normal and usually goes away quickly.

How long do dental crowns and bridges last?

With proper care — regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups — porcelain crowns and bridges can last 10 to 15 years or longer. Avoiding habits like chewing ice or grinding your teeth can also help extend the life of your restoration.

What material do you use for crowns and bridges at Bright Smile Dentistry?

We use high-quality porcelain that is matched to the natural shade of your teeth for a smooth, natural-looking result. Porcelain is also very strong and durable, making it a reliable long-term choice for both crowns and bridges.

Does dental insurance cover crowns and bridges?

Many dental insurance plans include coverage for crowns and bridges when they are needed for restorative reasons. Coverage can vary depending on your plan, so we recommend calling our office at (361) 994-7645. Our team will be happy to help verify your benefits before your appointment.

How is a crown different from a veneer?

A crown covers the entire tooth and is used to protect a weakened or damaged tooth. A veneer covers only the front surface of the tooth and is primarily used to improve the appearance of otherwise healthy teeth. Dr. Williamson can help you understand which option is best for your specific situation.
